Why Economists Have Such a Hard Time Sharing Their True Feelings
November 3rd, 2009 . by economistmomBecause it usually doesn’t work out so well, as illustrated in this NPR Marketplace video (part of their new “Department of Behavioral Economics”) featuring Marketplace senior editor Paddy Hirsch–with whom I’ve been playing phone tag (on other economics issues not quite involving coffee pots) and now can attach a face to the voice. Economists tend to go for the “money talks” option, because for most of them money talks better than they themselves do.

Paddy, I hope you didn’t really lose your job and are just a really good actor–also a sign you are not a trained or typical “economist.”

Marketplace is not NPR. It’s American Public Media or Public Radio International or Minnesota Public Radio (seemingly depending on the season). It is unafiliated with NPR, although it does run on many NPR affiliated stations.
Hope that clears things up.
