Special Thanks

May 10th, 2008 . by economistmom

EconomistMom.com is dedicated to my four children, Allison, Emily, Grace, and Johnny, and to all other children and grandchildren, who I hope will inherit a bright economic future from my baby boomer generation.

And special thanks to:

  • John Rogers, my husband, for putting up with all my special projects over the years.
  • My own mom (and dad), Bee and Edward Lim, who have always been supportive and inspirational in so many ways.
  • Bob Bixby, my new movie-star boss, for being so supportive of this project and especially for his long-time commitment to the cause of fiscal responsibility.
  • My other new colleagues at the Concord Coalition for making work so much fun.
  • Former Comptroller General David Walker, another movie star, now President and CEO of the Peter G. Peterson Foundation, for being such an effective spokesman on the Fiscal Wake-Up Tour and for his dedication to keep the Tour moving.
  • My former colleagues on the House Budget Committee staff who are brilliant at what they do despite the constraints! You know that I miss you and love that I always have an excuse to visit you.
  • House Budget Committee Chairman John Spratt, who is a true gentleman and a noble statesman, sincerely committed to producing fiscally-responsible budgets–and would be even without the Blue Dogs!
  • Alice Rivlin, who is a great mentor and role model, and who I hope will be making frequent appearances/comments here as “economistgrandma”.
  • Andy Yarrow, for writing that fun op-ed with me a couple years ago, which was the inspiration for his wonderful new book on fiscal responsibility, Forgive Us Our Debts.
  • Troy K. Schneider, whom I like to refer to as my “new media consultant,” for helping me get this blog going, and for his patience in dealing with my “old media” thinking.
  • Stan Collender, for being such an inspiration to me as a “hip budgeteer” and for introducing me to Troy!

Wow! Finally a woman who is trying to demystify the US economic problem.

First of all, I apologize for contacting you this way, but I could find no other way on this web site!

Please reference the attached web site for more ideas on the problems facing the nation. We must find a way to adequately describe our economic situation to the average woman, mother, sister, caretaker.

Men are very cynical. Every women that has understood any part of this message wants to know what they can do to stem the tide. And if their children are involved, they care not a whit that it seems impossible!

Once I studied the US economy, I realized that it is a sympton, not the problem. If you would like to discuss that view further, please contact me.

Comment 3 by Jackie Lambertsen says what is so applicable to my beginning attempts to demystify the Massachusettts city of Newton’s economic problem. It would be helpful to have the address of the web site referred to in paragraph 3 and why not include man, father, brother in the last line of the paragraph? Thanks to both you and Diane Rogers for your most sensible comments. So, how do I contact you as you suggested?
